Training and Employment Childcare (TEC) Programme
The TEC programme consists of 3 Programmes:
1. CETS: The Childcare Education and Training Supports Programme. If you are a parent and taking part in an eligible ETB (Education & Training Board, formerly VEC) or Solas (formerly FÁS) course you can avail of the CETS programme. Places can be full-time, part-time, after-school only or after-school with pick up places.
2. ASCC: The Afterschool Childcare Programme. This programme offers subsidised after-school childcare for certain DSP (Department of Social Protection) customers, who have children of primary school age.
3. CEC: The Community Employment Childcare Programme. The programme provides part-time or after school care for children up to 13 years of age. If you are a parent taking part in a CE scheme you are eligible for a CE childcare place.
Procedure for parents to avail of TEC programme
a. Parent obtains letter for eligibility for a strand of TEC
b. Parent chooses a service from list of childcare service offering TEC.
c. Childcare service applies for TEC place from Galway Childcare Committee.
