ALL PARENTS ARE WELCOME!

Galway City & County Childcare Committee is seeking a parent representative on its Board of Management. All parents are invited to attend a parent meeting on Thursday, February 16th in the Clayton Hotel, Galway at 8.00 p.m., where an election will take place. Board members are required to attend bi-monthly meetings of Galway City & County Childcare Committee to report parents’ issues and share relevant information.
Galway City & County Childcare Committee’s role is to coordinate and assist the development of quality childcare services; to provide information and resources for childcare providers, parents and the general public; to implement government-funded schemes at local level and to coordinate the provision of childcare training.
Mary Giblin, Coordinator of Galway City & County Childcare Committee states that “parent representation is crucial to the effective operation of the board. Participation ensures that parents’ issues are included and considered in the board’s decision processes. We welcome input from interested parents at the election on the 16th.”
The election will be followed by a short presentation about setting up Parent & Toddler groups and information on available funding.

A ‘Living Gardens’ Workshop, presented by Kay Synott, organic gardening specialist will inform participants about various gardening activities that parents can enjoy with their children. Kay, a qualified horticulturalist and garden designer, has designed award-winning school and community garden projects and is involved in environmental education throughout Galway.
