Ballybane library to lend toys to local children

Children in Ballybane who use the local library now have a choice between books and educational toys under a joint initiative of the Galway City and County Childcare Committee and Galway County Library Services.

The Toy Library Initiative aims to enhance children's development by allowing childcare groups and parent and toddler groups to borrow educational toys from their local library.  Ballybane is the latest library to begin the new service which is already popular in Tuam, Ballinasloe, Ballygar, Dunmore, Clifden, Westside and Carraroe. Parents who do not have access to childcare services can make special arrangements with their library to borrow toys for home use.

The service is financed by the Dormant Accounts Fund.
