About Us:

The Galway City and County Childcare Committee was established in 2000 to assist in the development of a wide range of integrated, high quality, accessible and affordable services for children in Galway city and county.

Membership: The Galway City & County Childcare Committee is made up of 27 members representing statutory and voluntary groups with an interest in childcare, Partnership Boards, childcare providers and parents.

Staff: The Galway City & County Childcare Committee employs 8 staff including a Coordinator, Administrator, Mobile Play Bus Manager, Childminder Advisory Officer and Information Officer, as well as 3 Development Workers, one for each of the following areas: Galway City, East County Galway and West County Galway.

County Childcare Committees

As part of the National Development Plan 2000/06, County Childcare Committees have been given the key role in the development of a coordinated approach to quality childcare at local level.

Galway City & County Childcare Committee was the first such committee to be established.
